The County Council’s contractor for the footway resurfacing, Road Maintenance Services Ltd, will be starting on site on 13th November. An initial letter advising of the works will go out to all those properties fronting the works by the end of next week. This will be followed by road signs and, twenty four hours or so before the works actually take place, a further letter. Prior to commencing the surfacing work, the contractor will ensure that all covers in the footway are masked to prevent damage. The first coat of surfacing will then be applied which creates a small amount of regulation of localised defects. The second and final coating is applied across the width of the footway. The material will be dry enough to walk on after approximately one hour although it may feel a little ‘spongy’ until any remaining water in the surfacing has evaporated. This could take up to a couple of days. In advance of the above, Mildren will be carrying out some preparatory work and attending to a number of outstanding issues including the removal of the last of the redundant signs. This activity will be taking place from next Monday (23rd October) onwards and is programmed to finish before the footway resurfacing starts. Although I will be away now until 30th October, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the members of the project team copied into this email if you have any questions.
